In the frozen movie, Olaf is just idling himself away and singing to his heart´s delight for his dream to experience summer. He is imagining himself sunbathing, drinking his favourite cocktail on a warm sunny beach day. He has his secret fascination about warm weather, not knowing what will actually happen to him when ice melts.I kinda relate though, i was daydreaming of warm days after winter,idling in the beachfront, feet in the sand, sipping coconut juice.

But then heatwave came to Germany, it´s toasty hot outside…i mean, it´s getting quite hotter than the usual, rather it´s global warming and alarming.

Am I still in Europe or I am back in Kuwait?

The heat is on here in Germany.Here in Bavaria its scorching 30 to 38 degrees almost every single day. It almost feels like I am in Asia. We ate ice cream for lunch and made jugs of lemonades.Getting sleep is hard, its 37 degrees even its already 10pm.I was wondering if the latitude where Europe is situated suddenly moved and the equator dissapeared.I guess I am not used to these heat anymore…or getting old probably… can´t sleep well because we don´t have an AC at home.

I recalled my days while living in Kuwait where 40 degrees is normal all through out the year, but then here in Europe?…it is just brutally warm…and summer is just starting.Probably the old weather phenomenon of Siebenschläfertag, or seven sleeper days is around the corner.

Siebenschläfertag is an old weather proverb basically with biblical origins.In the German -speaking part of Europe, this traditional weather forecasting is observed from June 27 ,on a Saturday which is by far predicted to be approx. 40 degrees outside, just like today. Yes, it is hot outside, its a new record this year of 41,5 deg. celcius.When the weather is extreme, the farmers are worried that the crops scorched by the heat and that nothing left to harvest. So they believed that the saying goes like this.

“As the weather is on Seven Sleeper´s Day, so it will be for seven weeks.“

According to old folk beliefs, the weather on June 27th is supposed to give a glimpse into the coming weeks. If the sun shines on this day, seven sunny weeks are said to be ahead. If it rains, on the other hand, the rest of the summer is also supposed to be rather wet, unpredictable and in short : Crazy.Just like what is happening now.

But then nobody knows what tomorrow brings. It can change in a day so let us see what comes around.It would be nice to be in Dalfaz Falls again.Feeling these soothing drops in my face, or showering under the thunderous Krimml Waterfalls.

Schools here have Hitzefrei, or cut short because even in classrooms feels like in an oven.Kids practically wants to live in swimming pools and Freibad, or anything with water.We go to work wearing shorts because there´s no AC in most places…and for a record, finally i wear flipflops.This kinda make me feel like the old days where sweating is just as normal as running.

Anyway,did you already had ice cream today?
