Do you love sculptures? I have never seen yet ” David by Michelangelo” but it´s considered as one of the world´s finest sculpture that exists. Imagine, its created from 1501 to 1504.For me, it´s human nature and very normal to admire sculptures, but sandsculptures are way too different. The process is too complicated, fragile and require a lot of maintenance depending on the surroundings.
Winter last year in the Netherlands we had some time to check out the famous Sand Gardens in the area of Garderen. It was rainy, cold and wet day but the weather did not stop us from checking out this place. This Sculpture garden is around for almost 25 years by now so it really has some legacy to boast. I wasn´t sure what to expect aside from the fact that it is a sand sculpture, so I was eager to see the artistic side of the exhibition.

Every year they hold a different theme for the exhibition. Last year was all about National Histry of the Netherlands. The collection was so vast and it´s really a great tour knowing all about the history and golden Moments in the Netherlands. I took some snapshots of the key figures that really caught my attention. The outdoor part was really impressive since I can really see so many dramatic figures of important person who shaped Holland as a nation. From the royal family to national heroes, they are all there.

There was also a large collection indoors and we really enjoyed each piece. There was this amazing comic strip collection and some nice art collections as well. My daughter enjoyed playing around and learning more of her Dutch heritage. There´s a nice restaurant inside, shop and we had a great lunch with a fireplace beside us.Itw as warm, cozy and a great escape from the cold weather.

The last sand sculptures I have seen was in Kuwait where there is a massive exhibition about the One thousand One Nights or the Arabian Nights held in Remal International Exhibition in Kuwait in 2014.It was really impressive and since then I became a great fan of it.

The Rose Grden was also decorated with various sculptures including ice sculptures. Each piece shows the caliber of the artist. It´s more like a Winter wonderland , with Igloo as well but during that day, we had more rain than snow. I am sure this place would be so nice if it was all covered in snow and all white. Nevertheless, it was all worth it. The sculptures can only be enjoyed and viewed through a walking tour.

If you are interested in these things, you can even view the Artists while they are on site-working and see how they trasform sand into magical creations. Each figures really shows emotions, rich history, and craftmanship. I couldn´t even build a proper sandcastle so great respect to these Artists!
You can view the artists from March 18 to 30 where there will be a great group of Artists who will finish up and prepare the next exhibition before it finally reopens to the public. The theme for 2024 is all about Books. If you love books, art and something unique like this, then you can pay them a visit.

Netherlands is always full of surprises. If you drive through the countryside, you´ll see endless green fields, cows grazing, sheeps wandering like old ladies , horses that looks like from the royal club and very cozy Dutch Gable houses.I was thinking, what´s more in here?then I started to explore it like a local…
The first exhibition that I´ve seen is all about Clogs making and then we went to the Windmill town of Zaanse-Schans where we saw the traditional windmill and way of life by the Dutch people and the wonderful world of Cheese!
I have always speak highly of the Dutch standard when it comes to botanical gardens,”Gezellig” way of life and the relaxed Dutch lifestyle . Not to mention their world class art and Museums, there is always something to discover and enjoy here.
Until then, Tschüß!

These are all absolutely amazing. I’d love to see an artist in action actually creating one of these sand masterpieces. Wonderful! Hope you’re having a great start to the year. 🧡
