Singapore, a city of man -made waterfalls

Krimml Waterfalls in Austria is still my favourite waterfall but I probaby left part of my heart in Singapore, in a little kind of way. Well, Singapore is such a tiny country and yet it left a huge spot in our memories. It´s small yet so dense with lots of surprising things! I was flipping the pages of the photo books I´ve made from our recent trip and end up sighing because we´ve missed lots of things. Too bad we haven´t had the time to explore everything.Oh Yes, memories from our trip are still so fresh, I could still feel the summer heat there.

My friends are asking me—what have you´ve seein Singapore? Is it worth the long hour flight?

Oh yes. Singapore is a little gem.A magnet for tourist in Asia.Man made or not–Singapore has all the answers to modern lifestyle and it has exceeded our expectations. Why not? because many of the things there are not here in Germany!

As a child, a sight of waterfalls after a hike in the mountain is quite normal to me.I have seen so much in my backpacking days .Once we´ve reached a waterfall, we need to swim and take a dip, it is a must!It won´t be complete if we don´t touch the waters and enjoy it or even explore the cave in it.Bathing under a waterfall is one of the purest joy in nature. The hike makes it even more exciting because once we hear the waters–we know we are almost near to it! But then these waterfalls in Singapore is totally different.

First, it is the country with so many man-made waterfalls. While over here in Germany, we love to explore natural wonders, waterfalls, caves, lakes , Gorges and the mountains but they are all natural wonders. In Singapore–we´ve seen what can modern technology do to mimic nature.

This photo below is the Rain Vortex of the Changi ´s “Jewel“. It actually looks like jewel cuz it´s the highlight when you landed in Changi Airport. It is one of the free things to enjoy if you are in this airport.Changi is by far the best airport I have seen, well at least it´s very functional, modern and beautiful.I am talking about how beautiful, functional it is, and super convenient for every type of passenger! I´ve got the feeling that we are just roaming around in a mall when we are here.

Anyway, when the mist came out from the center of the Jewel´s Rain Vortex, I was captivated. It is such a pretty sight. It is the largest man-made waterfall in the world so it is a sight that you shouldn´t miss when you visit Singapore.

Then comes the waterfall inside the Cloud Forest. It is one of my favourite place. It has all the plants that I love it mimics a wild tropical forest that I was missing a lot. Again, they have a giant waterfall here. Of course the mist-effect is also present but the walk through this forest with slim, modern steel bridges is one of a kind. Again there´s the wow-effect because of the leverage of heights. You can be in a different viewing points where you can be up close and personal with the waterfalls.

And yes, you will make a stop many times because the views are amazing. This place is huge and it´s amazing how it can make us feel so small inside.

During the time of our visit, the theme was the Avatar. So we saw lots of Avatar creatures depicted from the movie and it was really entertaining. My daughter loves the interactive show and she busied herself exploring and admiring these creatures same as me. Many times, we stopped to just gaze at the waterfall and watch the mist amongst the plants. The sound of the gushing water is the music we´ve heard throughout our visit.

Singapore is quite expensive. The entrance tickets to these attractions are hefty but they were really good. Considering their clever idea and creativity that works hand in hand to create all these waterfalls, indoor tropical paradise and Flower garden is just amazing.Imagine if they don´t build such these places, where would you go to escape the humidity?

From different viewing platforms and decks, we got super close to the waterfalls and have amazing views of the whole man made tropical forest. I have great respect on how modern technology made all these things possible. This is one place that I would love to bring my mother if we have the chance!

The transparent roofing panels made the whole place so epic.I am just in awe of the number of trees and plant species that I have seen here. They all looked so alive, lush and full of life. It´s a miniature paradise.

I remember when we saw the Krimml Waterfalls, it is said that the mist from the giant waterfalls are therapeutic. Meaning it can heal respiratory diseases such as Asthma. In the cloud forest, the sight of the mist is magical. We waited for the timings to see it in real. It´s like in the movies and I wished I have captured them all in my camera but I was busy ogling all the plants!

We were in one of the most modern metropolis in the world and yet we felt so close to nature. Watching skycrapers and modern buildings became a boring sight to us but watching these waterfalls really made our day!

I look forward to exploring all the other waterfalls in Singapore on our next visit. But for now, I´ll just cherish these memories.

Until then, Tschüss!
