Toblerone Peaks Reflections in Almsee in Zugspitzarena

I have loved Toblerone as a kid, i mean who doesn´t ??

Great childhood memories and chocolates always good together. But before then, these swiss-made Toblerones were a luxury treat for us in Asia so normally, a Toblerone bar would be divided together with my siblings so I would only end up having a small piece. We would only taste them during Christmas or when a relative came home from abroad and gave them as presents. But eversince I´ve lived here in Germany, i kinda fell out of love from chocolates, and fell in love with mountains in reverse ! In here, I felt like there´s too much chocolate madness that I would never understand. There´s too much abundance of chocolates that makes me totally forget about them, well not totally. Some I still love, esp. the ones with marzipans!

Anyway, speaking of Toblerone peaks-–whenever I see a mountain during our hikes—-that automatically reminds me of Toblerone, just like Mt. Matterhorn peak in all its glorious wrapper which has been in their labels since 1970.They are not exclusively Swiss made now but still, this iconic symbol is still ingrained in my brain…so as the mountain reflections in waters, they´re heavenly divine!

I would never say no to hiking if the end destination is a lake or we called it here locally as “See“. There´s something about alpine lakes that really makes every hike memorable, well at least for me.Most of these alpine lakes are over 1000-2500mtrs high in altitude so the waters are freezing cold and not for bathing but then, the sight of them is really captivating.I have seen soooo many lakes here in Bavaria and outside Germany but everytime i see another one,I am still ogling, and gazing in amazement at the beautiful nature in front of me.Given a nice sunny weather where blue skies and Toblerone peaks reflects in the turkis waters, I dunno about you, but for me, those are really priceless sights.

We spent a week in Zugspitzarena for a nice autumn hike and found this little gem of a lake called “Almsee“.The loop is quite easy, perfect for families and the loop has vast views of the Mieminger mountain range in Ehrwald. We got tired of doing a long hike but we had more time to kill before going back to the valley so we decided to take a leisure hike up to this lake. The previous day, we had a sunny day in Ehrwald hiking and exploring Seebensee, where we absolutely enjoyed almost 10km hike, with some challenging trek but this time in Almsee, we had some clouds but still, turned out to be a fine day.

The panoramic views we´ve had were just amazing.I imagined this place like an infinity pool with mountain views which is just so insane. We never had the luxury to have these views everyday so we really soak nature in, breathing in all this beauty, somewhat perplexed because this is just a very simple trip and yet we were so happy we´ve made it here.I felt so relaxed, calm and grateful just to be chillin´ in the wooden recliner benches, with a view of the mountains, trees, and these awesome reflections.

During the hike we often had mountain views, small river gushing and giving us a raw forest vibes, even a wooden barge to cross the waters was a real threat! Its a perfect round for families with stroller since the path were flat, with lots of raw nature for children to play as well.

Once we reached this lake, we can´t help but just to lounge, had some snacks and wonder why such places exists.Pure calmness in every sense.

We loved this place so much that we decided to come back again in Winter around January next year so we can enjoy more, and of course, to explore more around Zugspitze with some real snow and do cross county skiing.Down near the cable car station awaits the wonderful Tiroler Haus where authentic Tirolean dishes are served and just a perfect alpine Hut to enjoy a slice of cake and hot chocolate. We´ve got everything covered even a trampoline for the little jumper with us.

I am looking forward for our winter experience in this place so for sure, I´ll be posting about it here in my Blog.

Thanks for reading and Until then, Tschüß!
