See that view? I can´t ever forget in my whole life that I was in that spot in Seceda. It is unreal and almost hit me hard.Dolomites is no joke.If you haven´t seen the Dolomites, please go see it.
I spent a week hiking in the Dolomites last June and it was utterly and overly wonderful!Yes I wil be using lots of adjectives in this post but I´m sure it would be redundant but I really don´t care. It was long in my Bucketlist and now that my daughter is a lot bigger, she also tagged along our hiking adventure.I´ve first caught a glimpse of the Dolomites last summer of 2021 when we drive to Venice and had a few days stop in the area of Toblach (Dobbiaco). This time around, we spent much more time exploring the nerve wrecking Dolomites in Val Gardena, Funes, Tre Cime di Lavaredo and of course, my favourite -Seceda!

Seceda is a part of the Dolomites Unesco World Heritage site in Italy. The Seceda ridgeline is part of the Puez-Odle group of mountains. These mountain ranges are crazy, intimidating and really mind-blowing! And the view on top is almost unbelievable; trust me, your social media feed will drool if you see this place. The Alpe di Seceda lies in the sunny side of Val Gardena. This is one of my favourite hike in the Dolomites and from this trip, not only because of the nature grandeur that it offers us but also because I consider it as one of the most beautiful pure nature paradise I´ve ever seen in my mountain hiking adventures, in all my life.We reached the top at 2,519 m and was welcomed with these is a panoramic views. High above Val Gardena in South Tyrol, the summit rises between the Resciesa Plateau and the Odle Peaks.

When i first saw a photo of this steep rugged ridge mountain edge from internet, I was bent on finding where it was.I´ve made a promise to myself that someday I will hike it and that day came true.As someone who is in awe of mountains, this is something that really challenge me physically (because I was sick when we climb this!), I had no voice and my whole body aches but then i go through it.Surprisingly, I got better on the following day. I guess nature does me good.Nature is the best medicine.

The mind blowing Dolomites really hit me hard .Once I saw its majestic peaks, pale coloured mountains after mountains, my mind cannot even fathom how beautiful this place is.I can´t put it in one post so i decided to write each highlights in separate posts.(which i hope I can do in the coming days..!)
Seceda cannot be accessed all through out the year so the best time to hike is actually late spring, Fall or a ski adventure in Winter. I don´t ski so it works better for us last late Spring to do this hike. The crowds were already thick during our visit but at least there´s no parking restrictions yet since its not yet summer months.

It is also possible to reach the Seceda top with a cable car but it is really pricey.Camping and drone are not allowed in the whole of Dolomites but I guess some people are just natural law breakers.

We had our first base in Val Gardena where Seceda parking lot is 20 minutes away. Seceda is really a dream and just unforgettable.A place I cannot describe more because I think, its one of those places that you really need to see once in your life, a milestone if you love mountains like me.There was a lot of traffic on our way going to Südtirol so our arrival to our rental apartment in Val Gardena near Ortesei was a bit late than usual. The winding road was endless as usual, we know its typical typical in Italy, but nevertheless the killer views erased my woes and anxiety away. I am the type of person that have a speed and height anxiety issues but I will do whatever it takes to reach those peaks and have those awesome views!

We spent hours just admiring these views. It was late Spring so the wild mountain flowers are really blooming making the place from a fairy tale wonderland. The chilly air is so crisp, Seceda calmed & held our gazes long enough, making us fall into a dreamland where worries , stress, and led us into pure blissful escape from realities of life.

My mantra : Why would i wait a lifetime to see these views? Now is the Perfect Time.
I must go to the mountains, its calling me,I need to climb these mountains as long as I still can, or my knees can, and I am soooo glad I came.I don´t wanna leave.

Same as whenever I reached a peak, my heart is grateful and I just want to spend lots of time doing nothing. Not saying a word–speechless. Il Dolce Far niente ( the art of doing nothing in Italian culture).Gratitude always pays off and I am thankful enough for this trip, mountains and all.I am using the cinematic views from my iphone when i capture all these shots but still, I can´t capture Seceda´s beauty, its untamable! This place is almost unreal and sooo dramatic in all angles. This is really an epitome of what a mountain where humans can still be able to walk comfortably while on its peaks.Seeing it still covered with a bit of clouds and later on covered with misty greens is just so dreamy.I just can´t get over it.

Hiking Seceda is also very family-friendly.My daughter whined a lot along the way but then her mood changed and made lots of tumbling , taking photos and admiring the views from our hike. Through the hike itself, I was just meditating on how wonderful it is to be connected to nature again, of course with my dearest love ones with me.I wish that I could see this place during sunset though…

Seceda might be the longest hike in the Dolomites but I assume that its not the hardest. There´s always the right hiking trail for everyone who really wanted to do it and there´s always be an excuse for those who doesn´t like to sweat, and hike up.Bottomline is, its all up to our choices.
If there´s a hike that I would recommend if you wanna see the Dolomites–then Seceda is one of them!
Hiking Seceda is a one of a kind experience–a mind blowing views right in front of your face,360 panoramic vistas that can even make you question why on earth such place exists, a jaw dropping cliff of a place where you feel so tiny, fragile and almost nothing—but also hits you hard in the chest, because you are just happy to be “in there”, enjoying that mountain moment.
That is my Seceda experience.
Here´s an aerial video I have found where you can see more of Seceda up close.Trust me, you will never regret going to this place.
What´s keeping you up these days?
Thank you for reading up to this point my friends, Until next time, Servus and Tschüß!
